At AMS, we believe that inclusivity is more than just a goal, it’s a responsibility. That’s why we’ve taken the first step towards becoming a more inclusive business with the support of Inclusive Consulting, a disability-led business specialising in accessible and inclusive workplace solutions.

Why inclusivity matters

Creating an inclusive workplace and business environment is essential not only for equity but also for fostering innovation, engagement and positive customer experiences. An inclusive business benefits everyone; staff, clients and the broader community by ensuring there are equal opportunities for participation.

At AMS, we recognise the immense value of improving our working practices to ensure our services and activations are accessible to all. By taking proactive steps, we aim to lead by example and inspire other businesses to embrace inclusivity.

Our inclusive improvements

With consultation and guidance from Inclusive Consulting we are implementing several improvements to our work practice that will enhance accessibility and promote inclusivity across all services and departments at AMS. Here are some of the key changes to note:

Accessibility, inclusion, and equal rights code of practice

We are committed to transparency and accountability. Our Accessibility, inclusion, and equal rights code of practice is now publicly available on our website, outlining our commitment to fostering an equitable environment for all employees and stakeholders.

Engaging experts for inclusive events

We want our events at AMS to not only include everyone but to allow all attendees to maximise their experience with us. To ensure a long-lasting impression for all the right reasons, we will be working alongside Inclusive Consulting for all future in-house events. From venue selection, assisting participants with accessibility requirements to communication materials and more, we are taking steps to remove barriers that may exclude people with disability. Together we will make sure that the needs of attendees are met and that activities are accessible and inclusive for all.

Accessible documents and presentations

Information should be accessible to everyone. That’s why our documents and presentations will shortly be available in accessible formats, including screen reader-friendly versions. This inclusive solution tackles a crucial barrier that people with disability face in everyday life, ensuring that everyone can access key information without limitations.

Disability awareness workshop for staff

At AMS, we have recognised that to become more inclusive as a business, we need to firstly improve our understanding of the challenges that people with disability face in the workplace and in society. Increasing our awareness plus obtaining tools and recommendations on best practice will help us to foster an inclusive workplace culture and implement sustainable, accessible operations. By the end of March, all of our full-time staff will have participated in a disability awareness workshop, facilitated by Inclusive Consulting.

Guide Dogs’ training on assisting people with low vision or blindness

Understanding how to assist individuals with low vision or blindness is an important skill, especially for customer-facing roles. Through Guide Dogs’ ‘How to Assist Someone with Low Vision and Blindness’ training, we are equipping both our promo and full-time staff with the tools to offer better support to those that need it. Looking ahead

While these initiatives mark significant progress, our journey toward inclusivity is just beginning. We recognise that there are other areas that can be improved and are committed to continuously enhance our practices. AMS will strive to maintain progress with innovative compliant solutions that will create an environment where everyone feels valued and included.

We encourage other businesses to take similar steps toward inclusivity. If you’d like to follow AMS’ lead, contact Inclusive Consulting today via their website. By making accessibility and inclusion a priority, you’ll be investing in a better future for your business and the wider community. You won’t regret it!
